Transforming into a Powerful Speaker: The 3 levels of communicators
Warren Buffett once said, "The most important skill to master for greater success and improve one's value by 50% is communication and public speaking." This skill has been and will continue to be a key ingredient to success in any profession, even in the age of artificial intelligence.
During my time in the US ( Pre-Covid), I was exposed to listening to great speakers through Toastmasters International. I never thought of participating in a speech contest at the area level, and to my surprise, I won first place. This was perhaps one of the scariest things I have done in my life as an introvert.
Transformers represent the pinnacle of effective communication, transcending the boundaries of mere engagement and emotional connection. Their speeches possess the power to transform the audience's mindset, processes, and even lives. With unwavering passion and authenticity, Transformers forge an intimate connection with their listeners, creating a shared experience that transcends the physical realm. Their words resonate deeply, leaving an indelible mark that lingers long after the speech has concluded.
Leaders who aspire to truly inspire and influence their followers must strive to embody the qualities of a Transformer. Their speeches should not merely inform or entertain; they should ignite a spark within the hearts and minds of their listeners, igniting a desire for personal growth and transformation.
Michelle Obama, Narendra Modi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Steve Jobs are just a few examples of exemplary Transformers. Their speeches have the power to evoke a profound emotional response, leaving listeners with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
If you seek to become a truly transformative communicator, immerse yourself in the words of these extraordinary individuals. Their eloquence and passion will undoubtedly inspire you to elevate your own communication skills and leave a lasting impact on those around you...
Disclaimer: The concept of communication levels and terminologies (Engager, Absorber, Transformer) are my perspectives derived from my personal experience in communication and public speaking.
